Ellen Sheridan

Child Psychologist

Ellen is a registered psychologist practising at the Quirky Kid Clinic in Woollahra. She has 14 years experience in primary and secondary education as both a teacher and a school psychologist, most recently in Canberra serving multiple private schools.

She is competent in conducting and reporting on a wide range of different assessments. She is also well-versed in both the Australian Curriculum and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) with a particular focus on the adjustments available to schools for supporting students with an eligible diagnosis.

Her experience working with schools means that, when writing reports, Ellen is proficient in analysing data and suggesting achievable recommendations for their teachers to implement. She also provides evidence-based therapy to young people, using creativity to engage and explore issues such as anxiety, low self esteem, learning difficulties and behaviour challenges.

Her overall goal in therapy is to help young people recognise their own resilience, including the courage to navigate setbacks. Ellen loves to uncover personal values and support networks to foster self worth.

Ellen is interested in preventative mental health and has recently been pursuing her passion for using positive psychology with primary students to improve their self-talk and coping skills.

Qualifications:

Ellen has a double degree in Arts/Education (BA/BEd) from Monash University and was awarded a place on the Dean’s Honour List for Excellence in Education in 2008. In 2014, she completed a graduate diploma in Psychological Science at the University of Melbourne, followed by Honours in Psychology at Federation University in 2015.

In 2020, Ellen completed her internship pathway towards general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Regulation Board. In 2023, she was part of the Teaching and Learning Team at Bonython Primary School, which won the ACT Public Education Award for Excellence in Innovation.
