We are excited to welcome Blackmans Bay Primary School, situated in a seaside suburb south of Hobart, Tasmania to our Best of Friends® program.
The Best of Friends® is an evidence-based and multi-award-winning social and emotional learning program (SEL) developed by Quirky Kid that is now used by dozens of schools and clinics around the world.
About Blackmans Bay Primary School
Established in 1961, Blackmans Bay Primary School is a co-educational primary school, providing a vibrant, stimulating, supportive, rich and inclusive environment for all students guided by the 'Learner at the Centre' framework.
Blackmans Bay Primary School's mission is to support, nurture and extend each individual's capacity for thinking, communicating and accepting responsibility for themselves and their place in the world with a particular focus on their social and emotional wellbeing and fostering positive relationships.
Blackmans Bay Primary School's wellbeing approach involves applying their school values of respect, effort, resilience and creativity through pedagogy to ensure students are provided with the skills required to excel in the areas of Literacy, Numeracy, Drama, Music and Art. The school community is committed to caring for each other to create a safer, fairer and brighter future for all.
By adopting The Best of Friends® program, Blackmans Bay Primary School is committing to enhance each individual students social and emotional wellbeing through understanding and developing each students needs. We are amazed by the School's passion and commitment to the development of each student and cannot wait to work with their team to deliver our program.
How The Best of Friends® program will be implemented at Blackmans Bay Primary School
The Best of Friends® program will launch at Blackmans Bay Primary School in 2022 and be closely supported by our team of facilitators. Each participant will receive a copy of the exclusive workbook developed by Quirky Kid. To offer students the necessary support, facilitators and parents will have access to an extensive range of information, manuals and regular supervision as required.
To ensure appropriate evaluation, each child and group will complete psychometric testing of their social and emotional skills before and after The Best of Friends® program to measure the outcome of the intervention. Evaluation and monitoring is an important component of the program.
