Parent Information Evening with Dr Kimberley

Last month, The Green Elephant Child Centre in Beaconsfield, Sydney was buzzing with parents and caregivers eager to learn about managing common challenges faced by toddlers. The practical workshop included Quirky Kid’s Resources such as ‘Tickets’ as prizes for attendees. Led by our very own Educational & Developmental psychologist, Dr Kimberley O'Brien, the event focused on practical strategies to support children expressing frustration.

What Did The Workshop Cover?

Dr O'Brien addressed a range of topics and shared case studies about:

  1. Interpreting and managing toddler tantrums
  2. Easing separation anxiety in young children
  3. Strategies to deal with emotional overwhelm in parents and children

The one-hour interactive workshop was held in a beautiful outdoor space within a circular  library at the Centre. Many of the 25+ parents and educators shared common challenges involving non-compliance and emotional dysregulation at home and at preschool.

Personalised Guidance and Supportive Atmosphere

The intimate setting allowed for meaningful interactions and personalised advice from Dr O'Brien during the very active Q&A session, fostering a supportive and engaging atmosphere for learning. Dr O’Brien also provided referrals to local paediatric services to assist parents and educators seeking a broad range of assessments.

The parent information evening was a resounding success, equipping attendees with a wealth of knowledge and practical strategies to support toddlers' development. Dr O'Brien's guidance and the collaborative atmosphere at The Green Elephant Child Centre created an informative and uplifting experience.
