Social Skills

The Quirky Kid Clinic provides Social Skills training as part of a family focused, well structured and evidence based early intervention services for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

We run Social Skills groups that are tailored to your child’s specific needs. These groups may be run here at the clinic with other children on the Autism Spectrum, or may also take place at your child’s school or preschool, with a small group of children your child already knows. Our Social Skills groups are created from the child’s perspective, and include lots of games and activities to help your child learn the finer points of social interaction.

The groups may cover any or all of the following, depending on the age and needs of the children in the group:

  • Sharing and turn taking
  • Eye contact and greeting others
  • Reciprocal conversation
  • Initiating play with others
  • Dealing with competition
  • Understanding others’ emotions
  • Social rules

If you believe Social Skills groups may help your child, or if you would like more information, please contact our reception on (02) 9362 9297.
