We recently published a post with strategies on 'getting children to eat veggies. Now we invite you to share you own strategies and discuss what work and what does not with other parents here at 'Huddle'.
The link to the fact sheet is here: http://childpsychologist.com.au/resources/getting-children-to-eat-their-veggies
I've been considering healthy eating for children and its really difficult. There is a four year old on the fringes of my life who I see only about four times a year. Whenever I go to visit to visit him and we have meal time, his mother (who is wonderful) is always exhausted by the process of cajoling and promising and begging Little "S" to eat his vegetables or anything else that he deems suspect. Fast food, no worries, he loves it, but any of his mums yummy Italian food, he isn't interested. I think fast food appeals to kids because of advertising, and the fact that they are rarely allowed it (or the kids i know rarely are!)
Maybe we should try some reverse psychology and tell them they absolutley can't have carrotts and broccoli unless its a very special occassion. I wonder if Little S would eat his mums cooking then?
