Behaviour and Social Support (Austinmer)
The Quirky Kid has a part-time position for a Behaviour and Social support worker at our new clinic in Wollongong (Austinmer). This position requires an applicant experienced with ABA and children diagnosed with an ASD.
You need to be a team played with commitment and energy in working with a newly established office.
Your role as Behaviour and Social support and ABA Therapist
- Work 1:1 with Children in the home, school, clinic and community
- Design and follow in combination with parents, children and professionals a structured programme designed to teach language,play,social, motor and self help skills to children with autism or related disorders.
- Conduct groups programs within the clinic and school setting to improve children social and communication skills
- Engage with agencies, schools and other referring to best develop the Quirky Kid Clinic in Austinmer
- Participate in ongoing trainings and attend regularly scheduled team meetings for each client.
- Work collaboratively and effectively communicate with colleagues,parents and school personnel.
Skills or Qualifications Required
- You will have a genuine interest in working with children diagnosed with an ASD and presenting with challenging behaviour.
- You will demonstrate experience in designing behaviour programs as well as well developed skills in working with children and families.
- You will demonstrate outstanding professional, personal, verbal and written skills.
- You need patience, problem-solving ability, creativity, discretion, the ability to think on y our feet and a lot of energy. A good sense of humour and a positive outlook helps too as does the ability to accept constructive criticism and to be able to work independently, and as part of a team.
- You will demonstrate relevant and recent training and ABA and other behaviour and social theories. Additional training will be provided by a Developmental Psychologist
